Low Seatbelt Rate for Missouri Truck Drivers

The Transportation Department says when it comes to using seat belts, truck drivers are pretty casual in Missouri.

A study finds just 59% of big rig drivers use their seat belts, compared to an overall rate of 76%.

Accidents involving commercial motor vehicles on Missouri roads killed 32 truck drivers in 2003.

Fewer than half wore seat belts.

A new campaign will encourage truckers to buckle up, with messages posted at truck stops and inspection stations.
