Faulkner County Jail Standards

A federal judge has dismissed a challenge to the constitutionality of Faulkner County jail operations.

The order follows a recommendation made in March by U.S. Magistrate David Young.

After hearings last year, Young concluded that the jail meets constitutional standards for inmate population, health and safety.

The suit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of a prisoner in jail at Conway.

It claimed that Faulkner County held too many inmates and endangered prisoners' health, in particular by not testing them for tuberculosis.
