Father Puts Military Duties in Kuwait Aside Long Enough to Attend Daughter's ASU Graduation

JONESBORO, AR - A father and daughter reunited in Jonesboro last night after he was able to return home from serving in Kuwait in time for her graduation from Arkansas State University.

Sergeant Major Jerry Russell, Sr. of the Army Reserve was activated in February 2004.  He works in data communications.  His daughter Ginger Curtis went to ASU to study the same thing.

The pair often use the Internet to discuss her course work so that he could help her with her studies from afar.

Russell was able to make it to his daughter's commencement yesterday when he was sent to a senior leadership war conference in New Jersey.  He isn't scheduled to be back in Kuwait until Tuesday, giving him enough time to visit Jonesboro and watch his daughter receive her diploma.
