Man charged with assaulting Harding student on campus

SEARCY, AR (KAIT/KATV) -

A man is charged and another is recovering after a fight on the Harding University campus.

According to ABC affiliate KATV, 25-year-old Joaquin Collins walked onto the private campus in Searcy, entered the cafeteria and began arguing with a student.

Police told KATV that Collins assaulted the student and left.

Police later found Collins at an area hospital.

KATV reports that Collins is charged with aggravated assault.

“There were people taking action and calling security very quickly,” Harding University Vice President for Communication Jana Rucker told KATV.

Rucker said their students’ safety is their top priority.
