Court officer suspended without pay following arrest

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Craighead County Juvenile Court officer is suspended without pay following his arrest on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Jonesboro police arrested Steven Lee Schoonover, 47, after his wife claimed Monday night he had pointed a gun at their 10-year-old son.

The following day she retracted her comments and police dropped the charges.

D.C. Barnes, co-district supervisor for the 2nd Judicial District, says Schoonover, a drug court officer, has been suspended without pay pending an investigation by Schoonover's direct supervisor Lewis Davis. Davis, according to Barnes, is currently out of town.
