UPDATE: Students released, doing 'okay' after bus crash

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

Students taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure following a bus accident have been released.

On Thursday, Greene County Tech Superintendent Gene Weeks confirmed all students treated at the hospital are doing "okay" following a crash involving a gravel truck and GCT school bus.

Those students sustained minor injuries including possible cases of whiplash, concussion, and a sprained knee, according to the superintendent.

Weeks states a variety of students from first grade through high school were on the bus, however, he could not specify which students were injured for privacy reasons.

Assistant Superintendent Scott Gerrish said Wednesday six students were taken to the hospital as a result of the accident. Overall, 45 students were on the bus when the accident happened at 3:35 p.m. at U.S. 49 and U.S. 412. 

Assistant Superintendent Amy Lucius also said Wednesday the gravel truck hit the school bus.
