West Memphis man arrested after search

WEST MEMPHIS, AR (KAIT) - A search for a West Memphis man wanted on a multitude of charges ended peacefully Wednesday night in a wooded area near where the man ran from police, officials said.

Deterrius Wilson, 30, of West Memphis was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, theft by receiving of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing and a parole violation after the search.

West Memphis Police Department Division Commander Captain Joe Baker said authorities had been looking for Wilson and found him at a home in the 2600-block of East Monroe Street. Wilson later left and went to a home on Village Drive.

As officers found Wilson in the driveway, he took off running into the wooded area, Baker said.

West Memphis police, Crittenden County deputies, Arkansas State Police and the Memphis Police Department Aviation Unit then began searching for Wilson, who was arrested around 7 p.m.

Wilson will appear in West Memphis District Court Thursday for a probable cause hearing.
