CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - One person has been confirmed dead and two others have been hospitalized following a shooting at the protest of the death of Keith Lamont Scott. City of Charlotte officials said the fatal shooting involved two civilians, and no Charlotte officers.
Appearing on FOX News as the protests continued, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney confirmed one person was killed during the shooting.
Details remain limited, but officials stated via Twitter that CMPD officers were not involved.
Protesters moved downtown from Trade Street to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
