HAYTI, MO (KAIT) -

A BBQ benefit will be held next month to benefit the Caruthersville Humane Society-PAWS.

The event will be on Oct. 8 at Sander’s Car Lot, 4th St. and Highway 84 in Hayti.

“We had a very starved and injured dog named Wally who was brought to us and found in Caruthersville,” Karol Wilcox, the president of CHS-PAWS, said. “We worked very hard to nurse him back to health and Jeri Claire [Crowder] adopted him. This is the second year that Julie [Nichols] and Jeri Claire have hosted a BBQ to help us raise funds.”

The group is asking that you preorder the barbecue by Sept. 30.

Whole Boston butts are $25, ribs are $20, pork loins are $20, and a pound of chopped barbecue is $7.

The group will also be selling hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, chips, and drinks at the event.

Preorders also receive a free sample of JuJu’s BBQ sauce.

You can place orders at the shelter, at The Store in Hayti, from Debbie DiCarlo at the State Office Building in Caruthersville, or at Flowers by Sanders in Hayti.

“We are very grateful to have this great BBQ and fundraiser,” Wilcox said. “We have had so many medical cases this year. This fundraiser will help us help more animals like Wally.

Anyone with questions can call the shelter at (573) 359-0113.
