Region 8 boy plays guitar with Rascal Flatts

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) -

One Region 8 boy had what his family is calling the opportunity of a lifetime.

Hayden Sando got the chance to play guitar with country music group Rascal Flatts before their concert Thursday night in Jonesboro.

It all happened on the 12-year-old’s birthday after someone at the concert tipped the band off that Hayden loved to play guitar.

The family had tickets to a pre-show and that is when the band called Hayden on stage.

“I think I was more nervous than he was, he seemed very calm and confident,” said Hayden’s mom Tonya Sando.  “I was the one trying to record and probably shaking a little bit.”

“Well they asked what songs I knew and I knew a bunch of them, so we just picked one,” said Hayden.

He joined the band on their song “God Bless the Broken Road.”

Not only does Hayden play the guitar, he also plays the drums and sings.

He says it would be "pretty cool" if he could follow in the bands’ footsteps one day.
