JPD investigates credit card theft case

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are looking for three suspects in a theft case involving pre-paid Visa cards.

Officer Jeremy Taggart went to Walmart, 1815 East Highland Drive, around 1 p.m. Sunday about the case.

Taggart spoke to Logan Burnett, who works in the loss prevention department.

Burnett told police that the three suspects walked into the store, picked up 21 pre-paid Visa cards worth $500 each.

"Burnett went on to say that the suspects divided the pre-paid cards amongst themselves and approached a new cashier," Taggart said. "Once contact was made, the suspects took turns deceiving the cashier into believing that the suspects paid for the cards."

The suspects would slide their debit cards to buy the pre-paid cards, but would hit cancel soon after not allowing the transaction to go through, Taggart said.

Once the debit card transaction was canceled, the suspects told the cashier just to hit cash on the register, Burnett told police.

The suspects later left in possibly a white Chevrolet Malibu, police said.

Anyone with information on the case can call Jonesboro Crimestoppers at 935-7867. (STOP)
