ASH FLAT, AR (KAIT) - A domestic disturbance over the weekend landed a man in legal trouble Monday, according to Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts.
Terry Don Schafer, 29, was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the case.
Sharp County deputies went to Schafer's home in the 600-block of Browns Creek Road in Ravenden about 10:45 p.m. Saturday after getting a call from Nikki Asaford, the mother of Schafer's children.
Asaford told deputies she received a phone call about Schafer getting into a fight with another woman, Haley Terrell, Counts said in a press release.
According to the report, Terrell told Asaford that Schafer was going to get a gun and that "she needed to get the kids" because she did not feel safe with them being with Schafer.
Deputy Kelly Newcom spoke to Schafer about what happened.
"Schafer advised Newcom that Haley and himself were together and that they had broke up and that he was wanting to try and work things out with her and when she went to leave, he had grabbed her and that is when Haley's juvenile sister had jumped in between the two to prevent a fight," the press release noted.
Schafer then told deputies that Terrell had left, went to a family member's home and Schafer followed them, police said.
Schafer was asked to leave but refused.
"Schafer then advised the parties that he was going to his house to get a gun because he had bigger guns than they did," Counts said in the news release.
Later, Schafer gave deputies permission to search his vehicle. The search netted a glass pipe for smoking meth, Counts said.
