POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

After receiving an objection from Sheriff Gary Tribble, the director of Arkansas’ Alcoholic Beverage Control rejected a private club permit for a Pocahontas restaurant.

In July, Rhonda J. Ricker submitted an application for Bella Piazza Café, 102 W. Everett St.

While neither Chief of Police Cecil Tackett nor Mayor Kary Story objected to the permit, Randolph County Sheriff Tribble did.

Acting on that objection, on Sept. 21, ABC Director Gary “Bud” Roberts denied the application.

That same day, Roberts approved the following permit applications:

  • Great Wall Kitchen, 301 North Service Rd., Blytheville: Beer on Premises.
  • Frankie's Cafe, 306 Front St., Newport: Beer on Premises-Transfer of Location--conditional upon installation of a telephone with re-inspection by ABC Enforcement.
  • Dollar General Store #16707, 4016 Highway 5 South, Mountain Home: Beer Off Premises and Small Farm Wine-Retail.
  • Pizza Inn, 1127 Highway 62 East, Mountain Home: Restaurant Beer & Wine (Combo).
