Exclusive: Pulliam named Lawrence County Judge

Interim judge selected in Lawrence county

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Lawrence County justices on Tuesday appointed Ann Pulliam to serve as county judge until Jan. 1.

Pulliam helped the late County Judge Dale Freeman when he first entered the hospital.

She said things will not be changing that much.

"I'm going to be able to sign the contracts now," Pulliam said. "I've been signing the payroll slips and all that, that keeps the county running. I will, like I said, continue with my job just as I've been doing it."

For the past 10 years, Pulliam has worked in the county judge's office in Lawrence County.

Lloyd Clark, a member of the quorum court, said they chose Pulliam because of her experience.

He said they believed she was the best fit for the job.

Justices met in executive session earlier on Tuesday at the Lawrence County courthouse in Walnut Ridge to make the selection.

Pulliam was the only person nominated for the position.

The vote to appoint her was unanimous.
