U. S. Marshal: Newport woman arrested in battery case

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) - The search for a Newport woman wanted since July 2016 in connection with a stabbing ended Tuesday in Detroit, authorities said.

According to U.S. Marshal Bob Clark, Satasha Monique Ford was arrested on a first-degree battery warrant involving a case from Newport.

Newport Police Lt. Patrick Weatherford said officers went to Unity Health-Harris Medical Center on July 2 after getting a call about a woman being stabbed.

The woman, Briana Person, told police that the stabbing happened at Jordan's #4 convenience store on Malcolm Street in Newport, Weatherford said.

Doctors told police that Person was stabbed at least four times, with one wound puncturing her lung and lacerating her liver.

Ford was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant and questioned about the stabbing. Ford told police she had gotten into a fight with Person, but denied stabbing Person, Weatherford said in a probable cause affidavit. .
