WSOC: Lyon plays WBC to scoreless draw in 2 OT

Scots outshot the Eagles 24-19 in the match

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Lyon women's soccer team played Williams Baptist to a scoreless draw in double-overtime on Tuesday. The Scots totaled 24 shots in the game, while Williams Baptist had 19 total shots.

Lyon is now 2-5-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the American Midwest Conference. Williams Baptist is 1-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the AMC.


- Jessica Souza tallied a team high 12 shots in the match with seven on goal. Kayla Holloway and Joyce Barbosa recorded four shots apiece.

- Lyon goalkeeper Ali Ertl had nine saves.

- Williams Baptist had seven corner kicks compared to Lyon's five.

- The Eagles' Maddie Mead led the team with five shots in the match.


Neither team was able to net a goal on Tuesday, despite both teams combining for 43 shots. Lyon and Williams Baptist each had eight shots in the first half, and another 15 combined in the second period.

In the first overtime period the Scots tried to net a goal with six shots, as Souza and Barbosa each had two. Souza took the last shot of the game for Lyon at the 108th minute mark, but it was saved by Eagles' goalkeeper Jasmine Espinoza.

Lyon returns to James Marshall Huser Field on Saturday where they will face William Woods at 10 a.m.
