Frickleton eclipses 1,000 kills, Scots fall to Ozarks

Lyon falls in three straight sets to College of the Ozarks

BATESVILLE, Ark. – It was a milestone night for Katarina Frickleton as she eclipsed 1,000 kills in her career. The Lyon volleyball team however, fell 3-0 to College of the Ozarks Tuesday night at Becknell Gymnasium.

Lyon is now 9-8 overall, while College of the Ozarks moves to 15-10 on the season.

BY THE NUMBERS                                                                                                              

24 – Frickleton (8), Kendra Kelley (6) Madison Sandborn (6) and Samantha Scalf combined for 24 kills.

26 – Brittney Beckham and Jordan Dabdub combined for 26 assists in the match. Beckham led the team with 16.

17 – Madisson Williams had a team high 17 digs. Leilani Ocasio was second, and one shy of double-figures with nine digs.

.333 – Camille Clem and Dabdub each posted a .333 attacking percentage.


Lyon and College of the Ozarks played a tight first set. Both teams were tied at 20 in the first set before the Bobcats added two points to take a 22-20 lead. An attack error, followed by a kill from Scalf once again notted the game, but Ozarks scored three straight points and took the set 25-22.

Ozarks would grab a 2-0 lead in the match after winning the second set 25-9. The third set would eventually be similar to the first one. The Scots built a 14-10 lead with Ocasio at the service line, before extending it to 16-12. Ozarks however, would then score five straight points to take a 17-16 lead, but the Scots did not go away. The next few points would be traded as the score became 20-18 Bobcats.

Lyon fell behind 24-20, but scored two straight points to make things interesting – trailing 24-22. But Ozarks would score the final point of the match to take a 25-22 win in the third set.

Lyon plays on the road against a pair of AMC opponents this weekend. The Scots will take on William Woods on Friday at 7 p.m., then play against No. 7 Park on Saturday at 1 p.m.
