CAVE CITY, AR (KAIT) -

Monday, Sept. 26, was anything but ordinary for a Cave City teacher.

Darla Holley, a 5th-grade teacher, was selected as our September Teacher of the Month.

A Cave City native, Holley attended Arkansas College which is now known as Lyon College and has been teaching for 30 years in the Cave City School District.

She described the big surprise as a joyous moment.

"Wow!" Holley exclaimed. "I can't explain how it made me feel. That someone truly appreciates what I do every day."

Holley said she feels incredibly blessed to be still teaching and spreading love to her students.

"Every day my prayer to God is let me be something good in their lives," Holley said. "Let me do good for them. Whether I get appreciated for that or not, let me."

Holley hasn't only affected her students' lives over the years; she said they had done the same for her, helping her decide what's important in life and how to let some things go.
