CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - The Caruthersville Middle School football team scored a touchdown with the Caruthersville Humane Society.
The boys volunteered their time Saturday, Sept. 24, to walk the dogs, play with the cats and puppies, and helped clean the kennels, windows and other areas of the shelter.
"They gave the animals some much-needed interaction and helped us with cleaning that we needed to get caught up on," said Karol Wilcox, president of the humane society. "We were very impressed with this group, and they did a great thing."
Coaches Matt Myers, Jonathan Jones, and Stephanie McGraw accompanied the 20 team members to the shelter.
Coach Myers said he wanted the team to learn how to give back to the community.
"We were lucky they chose us to visit," Wilcox said. "Our shelter was very blessed by these young men, and we were certainly grateful that they came to volunteer."
Anyone interested in volunteering at the shelter should call (573) 359-0113.
