JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A local man told police Wednesday that someone used his identity to buy items from a cell phone company and apply for a loan.

The man told police he went to a local bank Wednesday to apply for a home loan.

A bank official told the victim that he had outstanding payments to Sprint on his credit for $850 that were bought on April 1, the police report said.

The man also told police he was contacted by the Arkansas State University financial aid department about the loan.

He told A-State that he did not apply for the loan and the loan transaction was canceled.
