JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Two Jonesboro police officers were named Officer of the Year at the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police banquet this week.

Corporal Jason Chester and Sergeant Trey Dupuy were awarded the honor Wednesday night in Little Rock.

Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliott presented the two with the award.

In May, Cpl. Chester and Sgt. Dupuy rescued a teen who had been swept away by flood waters in a storm drain.

The award is one of many the two have won this year for their lifesaving actions.

In addition to receiving a lifesaving medal from the Jonesboro Police Department, the two also received recognition from Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton as Arkansan of the Week.

Trumann Police Chief Chad Henson was also named the new President of the Arkansas Association of Chiefs of Police during the banquet.
