JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A group of elementary students are now prepared for anything.
Valley View Elementary first and second graders paid a visit to the Jonesboro Fire Department Thursday morning.
There they got hands-on lessons about emergency situations from the fire department, police department, ground and air ambulance service and 911.
The 42 students are now safety team members and learned what to do during emergencies.
"If they smell smoke in their house they need to get on the ground," second-grader Noah Andrews said. "Don't worry about their dogs or cats because the firemen are going to get them."
"They have an ax and they can break in rooms to let all of the smoke out of the house if it's on fire," Ava Fitzgerald said.
The safety team members will help lead their classmates to safety if a disaster strikes.
