GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Law enforcement officers swear to serve and protect their citizens.

Sometimes that means putting their lives on the line to go bravely where many of us would never dare.

Other times, they serve the people by mowing their yards.

That’s exactly what John Jenkins did Thursday afternoon.

The Greene County sheriff’s deputy was traveling down Highway 358 when he saw an elderly woman struggling to mow her yard.

Instead of just passing by, Jenkins pulled over and finished the job for her.

Briana Wicker was passing by and snapped these photos of the deputy doing more than just his civic duty.

Hayley Vowell shared the photos on her Facebook page to show her appreciation and to thank him for taking the time to “show compassion for others.”
