JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Habitat for Humanity of Greater Jonesboro started building a home for a needy family on Saturday.
Volunteers from the community put up the first wall of the home.
Among the helping hands were faculty and students from the Jonesboro School District.
One of the students who used his Saturday to give back said the experience was exceptionally valuable.
"It's a contribution to society that you can actually see and you can actually say you know, I did that," said Mark Havdala, a senior at Jonesboro High School. "I helped that family who is now living there."
Havdala has been volunteering with the organization since he was a sophomore.
He said Habitat for Humanity has provided him with valuable life experiences through building and learning.
