JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - St. Bernards Regional Medical Center advocates held their 9th annual butterfly release Sunday afternoon.

All the proceeds benefit the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Event organizers said the butterflies represent hospice.

Several families gathered to honor and remember loved ones taken too soon.

The Butterfly Release Chair Kembralyn Redman said 600 butterflies spread their wings and flew across Jonesboro.

"We released the maximum amount that we are allowed to release of this particular type of butterfly, so we hope to continue to grow the event so we can possibly sell more butterflies next year," Redman said.

Families also enjoyed the Jonesboro Visual and Performing Art's choir before the butterfly release.

Redman said she is proud of the turnout this year.
