MARMADUKE, AR (KAIT) - Improvements are coming to one Greene County city.
The City of Marmaduke received a $230,000 grant from the state to begin work on an overlay project that spans three streets.
Marmaduke Mayor Steve Dixon said the work will be on 9th Street at Highway 34, at the intersection of Franklin Street and 9th Street, and Highway 49 at 1st Street going up to the northern edge of the city limits.
The city was also awarded a $75,000 grant from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to begin renovations at fire station #2.
Dixon said the city got a $75,000 grant in 2011 to purchase the building and repair the damage from a tornado.
With the help of the new grant, the city will add training and restroom facilities to the station.
Dixon said renovations are expected to begin in early 2017.
