BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A woman was airlifted to a Little Rock hospital over the weekend after being assaulted, Blytheville police said Monday.

Officers went to the 1100-block of Willow around 1:35 a.m. Saturday after getting a call about the assault.

Blytheville Police Captain Scott Adams said officers spoke to the 29-year-old female about what happened. The woman told police she had been attacked by a man she knew.

"The victim stated she and the offender have been "talking" for a short while. She asked the offender to come over and then asked him for money. The offender gave the victim the money she asked for and then made sexual advances toward her," Adams said. "The victim advised she rejected the offender’s advances. The offender then became angry and attacked her causing serious injuries and knocking her unconscious."

When the victim came to, she found that she was completely undressed from the waist down and the offender had left, Adams said.

The victim was taken by Pafford EMS to Great River Medical Center and was later flown to UAMS in Little Rock.
