JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro man was robbed at gunpoint in his apartment Friday.

Jonesboro police were called to The Meadows at 3700 S. Caraway Road shortly after noon on Friday.

The victim told police that he was in the process of unlocking the door to his apartment when a short, slender, black man approached him from behind and put a small, black gun against his side.

The victim said the suspect forced him inside his apartment, loaded the gun and said he would shoot him. The man then handed over his wallet, phone, and keys to the suspect.

The suspect then threw the keys and phone and pushed the victim into a bedroom and left.

The victim said he had more than $1,000 in cash in his wallet.

The victim said he saw the suspect leave in a black or navy blue Chevrolet Impala. He told police the man, who was wearing all black, appeared to be about 5'8" tall, and had a beard. A witness gave police a similar description.

An employee of The Meadows told police he attempted to follow the suspect when he left the apartment complex. However, he said the suspect spotted him at the intersection of Caraway Road and Parker Road and ran the red light and got onto the highway.
