(KAIT) - The state of Arkansas and the rest of Mid-America's regional economy are currently stuck in reverse according to an article from Arkansas Talk Business & Politics.
According to a release from Creighton University's Mid-America Business Conditions Index, economic growth in Arkansas and eight other states slumped significantly last month.
One report released Monday showed a drop of the Business Conditions Index, which ranges between 0 and 100, of 45.5 for September. August finished at 47.8, with July finishing at 47.6, making this the third straight month with a below 50.
A second report showed improvement in the manufacturing sector saying the sector expanded in September.
An employment gauge among the nine states also showed the manufacturing sector losing jobs, having lost 20,000 jobs in the last 12 months, although regional manufacturing added almost 109,000 jobs.
