PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Greene County Tech Elementary students learned more than the vital stop, drop, and roll rule Wednesday morning.
Firefighters with the Paragould Fire Department hosted a fire safety training lesson, teaching the students what to do when a fire breaks out, and ways to make sure their families get out of their homes safely.
Once they learned the basics, it was time to put their newly acquired knowledge to the test in the Arkansas Children's Hospital Fire Safety House.
Firefighters conducted a mock fire drill, equipped with syrup-scented fake smoke.
Once the smoke filled the trailer, the smoke alarms went off and the students found their way outside the trailer.
Students say the fire safety house was their favorite part of the training.
The Southland School District in Cardwell, MO is scheduled to visit the Paragould Fire Department Friday to undergo the safety training.
