Forrest City Landlord Charged after Shooting and Beating Tenant

MAY 12, 2005 - Posted at 7:40 a.m. CDT

FORREST CITY, AR - A Forrest City landlord has been charged with first-degree battery for allegedly shooting one of his tenants in the foot and then beating him about the head and shoulders with a paddle.

Charlie Neil White is free on $10,000 bond and accused of shooting Doyle Kevin Poindexter while evicting him from the trailer park.

Poindexter worked for White and told investigators White had evicted him for not cleaning his residence well enough.  Poindexter said White threatened him at gunpoint to clean the trailer and shot him in the left foot.

Poindexter then said White went to the trailer, got a boat paddle and started hitting Poindexter with it.
