JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro police officer pulled his gun on an armed suspect who ran from him Friday night.
According to the Jonesboro Police Department incident report, the officer attempted to catch up with a car driving at "a high rate of speed" on Walnut Street.
Eventually, the officer found the vehicle pulling away from the side of the road on Vine Street.
The report states two men ran from the vehicle.
Police spotted Robert Cannady, 23, running behind a house near the intersection of Vine and Warner Streets.
The officer got out of his patrol car and told Cannady to stop. The suspect started running again and then pulled a gun from his jacket pocket.
According to the report, the officer pulled his gun out and pointed it at Cannady, ordering him to drop the gun.
Another officer caught up with the suspect and grabbed his arm. Cannady then turned around toward the other officer with his gun pointed sideways.
Once Cannady saw the officer's gun pointed at him, he dropped his weapon.
Police arrested him and found suspected methamphetamine on him. They also found 1.5 Diazepam pills.
The gun Cannady had was later confirmed stolen. While at the Craighead County Detention Center, a jailer found a counterfeit $20 bill in Cannady's pocket.
