JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The  Arkansas Science Festival officially kicked off with the Science Slam at One Love People Coffee House in Jonesboro on Sunday.

Elements of science were included during readings of poems, music, and skits performed at the event.

Several people said they attended to see the unique performances.

"I am really excited for the music because I like to be introduced to a lot of new music styles and stuff, so I think that's going to be really interesting," said Murray Pringle.

The festival will continue throughout the week with several events on the Arkansas State University campus, Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, and the Arts at 311.

The festival will have events for all age groups during the week.
