Doctor reports over $7,000 missing from business, woman arrested

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Police arrested a woman after a Region 8 doctor reported thousands of dollars missing from his business.

According to Blytheville police, Dr. Joseph Yao reported Friday that an employee stole $7,003.68 from the doctor's office at 526 Chickasawba St. Yao told police the employee had been stealing from his business since 2014.

Captain Scott Adams says police arrested 50-year-old Lynn Rowe on Monday in connection to the theft.

During an interview with investigators, Rowe admitted to stealing money from the doctor "over several years," according to Adams. She was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

The orthopedic surgeon was tipped off to the thefts last week when he said he noticed a deposit was off. The money his office received did not match what was deposited.

The doctor reportedly traced the thefts back to a billing and collecting employee. The employee was the only one that goes to the bank to make deposits, according to Yao.

Rowe was arraigned in Blytheville District Court Tuesday. A judge found probable cause and bond was set at $3,500.

Rowe's next court date is scheduled for Nov. 30.
