CROSS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Due to a recent downturn, the Cross County School District is looking for substitute teachers.
According to Gina Lee, the school's district treasurer and business manager, the loss is both good and bad. Some subs have moved into permanent positions while others have retired.
The need for subs has increased this year.
"I would say our numbers have probably dropped five to ten, but for a school our size that is pretty drastic," said Lee. "We would like to have 10 to 12 more people sign up. You never know, we're hoping for that."
She added that anyone can apply to sub for the school even if they live in surrounding communities.
The district utilizes the site WillSub for substitute services and plans to hold a recruitment event in the business lab at the high school.
The event will be on Oct. 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. so that anyone who needs access to computers or the internet will be able to use the computers on site.
Anyone wanting to apply must bring the following: driver's license, Social Security card or birth certificate, information for direct deposit, e-mail addresses of three references, college transcript (if applicable), and payment for a background check.
