TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas State Police are now involved in the investigation into a woman who impersonated an ASP investigator.

According to Trumann police, one of the first reports of Misty Stevens impersonating an investigator came from a local shelter after they saw her carrying a gun.

A person at the shelter approached Stevens after seeing the weapon. That was when she said she was with ASP.

Stevens presented herself as an investigator to multiple people including the officers who arrested her.

"The day that we came in contact with her she was wearing a badge that said process server," said Lieutenant Jonathan Skaggs with the Trumann Police Department. "And she was wearing a t-shirt that said process server on the back. She was wearing a holster for a weapon but did not have the weapon on her.

Since Friday more people have contacted the department about similar incidents with Stevens, and there were also reports of instances happening in Craighead County.

According to Trumann police, the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with more information on Stevens is asked to contact the Trumann Police Department at 870-483-6423.
