LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - The UAMS Center on Aging-Northeast will assist Medicare participants with their prescription drug plans during the Open Enrollment Period by providing non-biased evaluations and enrollment assistance, officials said Thursday.
The Medicare Open Enrollment Period to join or switch Medicare drug and health plans starts Oct. 15 and will end Dec. 7.
The Center on Aging-Northeast has been assisting Medicare recipients with their plans since 2006. The assistance is free and participants will need to bring a list of medications, current drug or health plan card, and Medicare card.
The Center on Aging-Northeast is located at 303 E. Matthews, across from St. Bernards Hospital, in Jonesboro.
The Center on Aging-Northeast is part of the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Support is also provided by St. Bernards Healthcare.
The UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging serves the needs of an aging generation with the highest standards of research and care. It was established through a 1997 gift of $28.8 million from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and expanded through a 2009 foundation gift of $33.4 million.
The AAI created seven Centers on Aging throughout the state to provide senior adults access to quality care within a 60-mile drive from their homes.
