CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

This past weekend, someone used a power line for target practice. Now the Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of that shooter.

More than 4,900 customers lost power Saturday after someone shot down power lines in the Lunsford area.

CECC says the shooter destroyed three insulators that held the high-voltage line in place.

“This is not just an inconvenience to our members but a very dangerous situation,” said Brian Duncan, CEO of Craighead Electric Cooperative. “We want to catch the people before they damage more facilities or injure the public. This is more than just a day of fun target practicing. According to federal law, this is an act of terrorism.”

Anyone with information on the vandalism should call their local law enforcement office or CECC at 800-794-5012.
