IT department investigating BRTC alert

Grave of Westside victim vandalized

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - Information Technology officials at Black River Technical College are looking into an alert that sent the Pocahontas campus into lockdown Thursday morning.

According to BRTC officials, the panic button alert was activated announcing a shooter. There was a name associated with the alert but officials say they did not recognize it.

Now the IT department for the college is investigating the button alert.

An officer with BRTC security said there was a suspicious person on campus and the campus remained on lockdown until the person was found.

Once the person was found it was determined that they were not a threat.

Seth Stephenson will have more details from the college on tonight on Region 8 News.
