Biker’s 'last ride' through town brings emotions to surface

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Elmer Bruner was known simply, as "Too Tall," to his friends. Those same friends who rode motorcycles with 56-year-old Bruner, mourned his loss riding two-by-two behind a black hearse carrying his body to the cemetery.

Bruner died after suffering injuries in an accident on October 4.

Bruner was driving his 1999 Harley-Davidson west on E. Thomas Green Rd. at Dan Lee Dr. when he hit a deer. He lost control and was then thrown from the motorcycle.

He was airlifted to a Memphis hospital but never recovered from his injuries.

Bruner was an advocate for the safety of motorcyclists. He appeared on KAIT promoting "Look Twice, Save a Life."

Tall was an avid motorcycle mechanic. He was also a former member of the FUGARWE Tribe.

"Everyone knows that we lost a good guy, Too Tall," said Lisa Blake, Bruner's long-time friend, as she held her phone. Sobbing as she tried to hold the phone, Blake turns the phone back around. "There you have it guys," Blake said. "Too Tall's last ride."
