Man wanted on assault charge surrenders to police

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A man accused of opening fire on the mother of his child during horseplay is now in custody.

D'Marcus Black, 19, surrendered to the Blytheville Police Department Monday morning.

Police had been looking for Black since Sept. 21 when the mother of his child claimed he shot at her while holding that child.

The victim told investigators she and Black were "playing around" when he accidentally broke his chain.

Black became mad, pulled out a small pistol and began shooting, the victim said.

In a separate incident involving Black, police responded to the 2300-block of Marguerite St. on Oct. 23 in reference to an aggravated robbery.

The victim told officers his cousin, Black, asked if he could borrow some money. When his relative tried to give Black some money, he said Black pointed a gun at him and told him to lay down or he was going to shoot him.

Black, along with another unknown suspect, reportedly took the victim's gold chain, a small handgun and $50 in cash.

Black is charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, aggravated robbery, and aggravated assault.

He was arraigned Tuesday and was bound over to the circuit court where bond was set at $125,000 cash-only.
