JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Instead of sticky fingers, police are looking for a suspect whose fingers might be greasy.

Steven Chow of SEA Industries in Cordova, TN reported Friday that in the past two weeks someone stole approximately 1,400 gallons of used cooking oil.

According to the initial incident report, Chow collects the oil from his company’s containers every two weeks.

He has five collection points in Jonesboro. He said all of the following were empty:

  • Kirin, 2700 S. Caraway—200 gallons missing
  • Hong Kong, 1420 S. Caraway—300 gallons missing
  • China Buffet, 1137 S. Caraway—300 gallons missing
  • Hibachi Grill, 1699 Red Wolf—300 gallons missing
  • Fuji, 2810 E. Highland—300 gallons missing

Chow estimated the value of the oil, which is used to make biodiesel, at $2,200.

Earlier this year, someone stole more than 1,300 pounds of used cooking oil from Demo's Barbeque and Smokehouse and Catfish Cafe.
