Marked Tree Police Department seeks wanted individuals with new initiative

New initiative helps find wanted criminals

MARKED TREE, AR (KAIT) - A new Marked Tree Police Department initiative helped find a wanted man.

On Monday, through a community tip, the department captured a man wanted on 11 counts of failure to appear/contempt of court, probation revocation, and failure to pay fines.

The department recently began the Marked Tree's Most Wanted Initiative.

Through the initiative, they are releasing names, pictures, and charges of the city's most wanted individuals.

They plan to use social media to spread the word about these wanted individuals.

"We've decided to partner with the community to bring people to justice," said Chief Michael Matlock.

The department is also starting up a police blotter to allow the community to see what they are doing on a weekly basis.

Chief Matlock said he felt it was important to do this for the community to help get dangerous individuals off of the streets.

"We're asking the community to step up, to take back their streets, to take back their neighborhoods, to take back the sanctity of their homes, and help us get these people off the streets," said Matlock.
