JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Out of the Dark held their annual event in downtown Jonesboro Tuesday afternoon.

The event, known as “Leave Your Mark,” is designed to encourage young students to rally the community to support drug addiction recovery and promote healthier living.

Hundreds of students from school districts all across the region gathered on the streets as food, shirts, and banners were present throughout the event.

One student from Annie Camp Jr. High School said events like these could leave a lifetime impact on young students.

"All the kids are here, and it makes you feel like they're welcome,” Jaden Flanigan said, “especially when it's like home, it makes them feel good about it, so something that we're doing now can translate to later on in life, and they'll remember this, so it's a big event.”

Out of the Dark started in 2008 to address addiction and the collateral damage it has caused communities in Northeast Arkansas.
