Former A-State football player wheelchair bound after injury in NFL game

A former A-State football player will be sidelined for a while following a Monday Night Football injury.

Houston Texans offensive tackle Derek Newton tore both patella tendons during a game against the Denver Broncos, according to NBC Sports on Wednesday.

Newton is expected to be in a wheelchair for the foreseeable future and it may be months before he can walk on his own the article states. Good news though is that he is able to move his toes.

Newton played at Arkansas State University starting in 2008 and was drafted by the Texans in the 2011 NFL Draft.
