ARMOREL, AR (KAIT) -

Starting a school day with song is just what a local principal did to the delight of his students.

Armorel Elementary Principal Joey Carr strapped on his guitar and donned a cowboy hat Wednesday morning to welcome his students. Carr said the kids enjoyed hearing their names put to music.

Carr and others in the school district are participating in Red Ribbon Week which encourages kids to make positive life choices. Wednesday was Western Day in order to "Give drugs the boot!"

A Facebook user decided to record Carr as he performed his best rendition of George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning." Understandably he replaced Amarillo with Armorel at times to add some school pride.

The video has become widely popular with well over 11,000 views and counting.
