JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The body of a Trumann man was recovered Thursday afternoon after searchers scoured the St. Francis River after a boat was found.

Authorities found Millard Branum, 77, while searching the river near Ditch 60, Poinsett County Chief Deputy Kevin Molder said.

Around 2 p.m. Thursday, a Game and Fish biologist got a call about a boat going down Ditch 60 with no one in it. About 30 minutes later, deputies found the man's truck hooked to a boat trailer with the truck still running and the trailer in the water.

Both deputies and search and rescue crews were then called, Molder said.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officers and Poinsett County deputies helped in the search.

According to AGFC communications director Keith Stephens, searchers were looking the area near Ditch 61 on the St. Francis River close to the Payneway Dam.

The search began around 3:30 p.m. and crews were still at the scene, Stephens said.

Molder said that he is thankful for all officials who responded to this incident and that Branum’s family is in their thoughts and prayers.

“It is hard for the family to deal with and I want them to know that we did everything we could to make sure we helped them,” said Molder.

Molder also said he does not suspect foul play in this investigation.
