POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

While responding to a report of a verbal altercation, Pocahontas police learned of child pornography on a cell phone in a storage unit.

A Pocahontas Police Department incident report states that the woman who called police said her boyfriend, Michael Yancy, had been making threats toward her and her daughter.

The woman then asked police what would happen if she knew “someone that had child pornography.”

The woman told police Yancy had lewd photos of girls exposing themselves on a cell phone in a storage unit. She said he initially claimed he destroyed the phone but recently said he still had it.

Police say that's when Yancy came out of the home. When questioned about the phone, he did not deny having the pictures. He said the cell phone was in the storage unit but was dead.

Yancy took officers to the storage unit and retrieved the phone from a blue container.

Yancy told officers the photos and videos on the phone were of two girls, approximately 10 and 13 years old. Yancy said he found the pictures on the phone 6 or 7 months ago. He stated he recognized one of the girls from her fingernail polish.

When asked why he didn't delete the photos when he found them, Yancy said he kept them in case someone tried to "put it on him" and that by having them, "he would have proof."

Yancy was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center on charges of possession of child pornography.
