'Pupkin Fest' held to raise money for rescue dogs

Pupkin Festival

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Furry friends and their families were all a part of "Pupkin Fest" hosted by A Love For Animals Rescue.

The event was held Saturday to help the rescue raise money for dogs needing heartworm treatments.

Among the activities at the event were a dog costume contest, a pumpkin carving contest, and face painting.

"This is our third Halloween event," said Theresa Johnson, the organization's director.  "We need about $3,500 to treat the remaining heartworm positive dogs that we have."

"We have wonderful dogs. They're good just to come out and see," said Johnson.  "They're very well behaved and they're crate trained."

According to Johnson, the organization primarily pulls their dogs from pounds, many of the rescues were previously on death row.

Johnson asks anyone wanting to donate to reach out and the organization also offers visiting hours with the dogs by appointment.
