TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - Stepping Stones Shelter in Trumann will soon receive a $140,000 gift from the Sims family.

Pastor Jeff Weaver, the shelter's director says he hopes the gift will allow them to better serve those in need.

The gift will be used to help expand the shelter and their on-site food pantry.

"We were never expecting that, it was just our blessing, truly from God," said Weaver.   "It's going to allow us now to do our expansion phase."

The shelter is purchasing a building near their current location and plans to make that a part of their food pantry.

Weaver says the need for expansion stems from the shelter's rapid growth.

They have been open just eight months and are already at capacity.

"We knew there was a need in Trumann, but we never realized how big the need was," said Weaver.

"We're just busting at the seams, and we have got to expand," he added.

He says unfortunately he has been having to turn people away because they have no room.

Weaver hopes the gift will allow them to expand so they will be able to help everyone in need.
